All in the Family: Hunter is Eighth League MVP to Have Father as His Coach

Georgia State's Ron and R.J. Hunter buttressed their case as one of the all-time top 10 father-son, coach-player combinations in NCAA Division I history when R.J. was designated Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year for the second successive season.
If Hunter remains in college one more year, he could join LSU legend Pete Maravich and Creighton's Doug McDermott as the only other players to win three such league awards while on his father's roster. McDermott competed in two different alliances. Six of the eight sons in the following chronological list were DI league MVP multiple times while playing for their dad at the same school:
